Winter at Pool Bridge Farm:

Pool Bridge Farm offers adults (18+) the chance to enjoy wild swimming across four beautiful lakes, each with its own personality and quirks.

We’re open every day from 8 am to 8 pm, with early access from 6:30 am for pass holders. Everyone entering the water or lakeside must have a valid ticket. During hours of darkness, swimming is limited to the floodlit Monet Lake for safety.

Please note: No jumping in is allowed in any lake except Q Lake due to varying depths. Always use the designated entrances and exits. As the temperatures drop, we highly recommend easing yourself in gradually—your body will thank you later.

Monet Lake

200m | Calm | Close to facilities

Monet Lake is a peaceful, narrow lake, and its banks are perfect for relaxing, reading, meditating or having a quiet catch-up with a friend. Named after Claude Monet (thanks to the long line of lily pads down the centre), this 200m stretch sits just beyond the open changing barn. Gentle steps provide easy access, and the large grassy banks are ideal for unwinding after your swim.

M Lake

Approx. 500m circuit | Home of our saunas

Shaped like its namesake letter, M Lake offers a perimeter of around 500m, depending on your chosen route. Our wood-fired saunas are dotted around this lake, with the surrounding decking kept as a quiet zone. The sauna decking areas are for sauna users only. If you’re only swimming, you’re welcome to use the steps around M-Lake that are not in Sauna Corner.

Horseshoe Lake

300m loop | Great for training

Loved by many of our regular swimmers, Horseshoe Lake offers a gentle 300m circuit. It tends to stay nicely peaceful, though it’s also popular with those training or looking to pick up the pace. You’ll find it on the left as you head down the track toward the Meadows campsite. We now have a changing shelter, complete with benches and hooks, steps into the water on the end of the island.

Q Lake

7 acres | Big views | Open for winter but closed when there is ice

Q Lake is open for winter swimming, while SUP is not happening. A summer favourite for families and a beloved early-morning spot, it transforms into something completely different in the colder months. With big skies, abundant wildlife, stunning scenery, and plenty of space, it’s not unusual to find yourself swimming in total solitude—if that’s your idea of bliss.

Facilities

We offer:

  • 5 lakeside saunas

  • Ladies, gents, unisex & accessible toilets

  • Open changing barn with two smaller private changing areas (male & female) by Monet

  • Male, female and unisex communal changing for sauna users

  • On-site café (open daily)

  • 3 warm outdoor showers by Q lake (though we don’t recommend using hot showers to warm up after cold-water swimming, for safety reasons)

Respecting Nature & Each Other

Our lakes are home to a wide variety of wildlife, and we welcome swimmers who value the natural tranquillity of the surroundings. We respectfully ask for:

  • No music

  • No alcohol

  • No smoking

  • No disruptive or unsociable behaviour

If these rules don’t suit your plans, there are plenty of other places that might be a better fit—we aim to keep this space peaceful for everyone.
