Our Lakes in Summer:
We have four very different lakes for you to choose from - or why not visit them all? Just like our children, each lake has its own unique characteristics and we all have our favourite - we’re just not allowed to tell them. Only kidding, kids - we love you/them all equally, honest…
The Q Lake (perhaps akin to our ‘sociable youngest’) is our family and group lake, as well as a favourite of the early-morning swimmers. The biggest of our lakes at seven acres, it offers expansive horizons, abundant wildlife and stunning scenery, along with jetties and ramps at numerous entry points. With plenty of space lakeside, this is the lake to head to if you have children with you or if you are coming as a large group. The Q Lake is also where you can paddleboard or use your inflatable kayaks. We don’t offer a hire service so you will need to bring your own board and pre-book a 2-hour timeslot in advance. See our SUP page for more information.
Please note, there is no jumping or diving permitted in any lake other than Q lake, due to varying depths and water levels. Please use the designated entrances and exits and acclimatise yourself fully before jumping in.
The Monet Lake (our ‘softly spoken eldest’) is a tranquil lake with both the lake and lakeside designated for activities such as relaxing, reading, meditating or chatting quietly with a friend. The 200m-long lake, situated just past the old barn, is where our wild swimming journey began and takes its name from Claude Monet, the French impressionist painter, due to the large lily pads that run down the centre of the lake. Steps in the centre and at either end provide easy access to this stunning lake and its large grass banks provide plenty of room to relax after a swim.
The M Lake (our ‘awkward’, or in this case, ‘awkwardly-shaped’, middle child), so called because it’s shaped like the letter ‘M’, has a 500m perimeter and is home to our five unique and very popular saunas, which must be pre-booked. Enjoy some contrast therapy by dipping or swimming in this picturesque lake to cool off between sauna sessions and watch the abundant wildlife on its three little islands. Please note, the decking areas and changing rooms are for sauna users only. Check in at our sauna reception, where you’ll receive a warm welcome and an informative briefing from one of our team.
The Horseshoe Lake (the sporty one), with its 300m circuit, is a favourite of many of our regular swimmers and is also popular with those training for long-distance events and triathlons due to its shape and size. It is sometimes used for group sessions such as ‘Introduction to Open Water’ with our fantastic swimming coach, Carrine, but still tends to remain very peaceful. Just watch out for the troll as you swim under the bridge…
We are open every day from 8am and the lakes close at 7:45pm, with all customers off site by 8pm. To gain access to the lake or lakeside, you must purchase a valid ticket in advance.
Once the water temperatures are consistently above 12 degrees, we welcome children to visit us until the end of September and to SUP until the end of October.
Facilities include male, female, unisex and disabled toilets; male, female and unisex changing huts for those with a sauna booked; a small female-only changing area by Monet; a changing hut at Q lake and a new toilet and shower block for campers. Please note, the outdoor showers are for swimmers, and the indoor showers are for campers. We also have an on-site café (open every day except Tuesday).
Our lakes are home to lots of wildlife; we therefore only welcome those who respect wildlife and wish to immerse themselves in the natural tranquillity of the lakes. To ensure the enjoyment of all our visitors, we respectfully ask that there is no music, alcohol, smoking/vaping or unsociable behaviour - and, if you are not prepared to follow the rules, please feel free to head elsewhere.
By purchasing a ticket you understand that use of the lakes and lakeside is entirely at your own risk.
