Swimming at Pool Bridge Farm this Spring and Summer

Welcome to Pool Bridge Farm, an idyllic setting with four unique and peaceful lakes for wild swimmers, nestled amidst nature, yet only 10 minutes from York city centre. As lake temperatures rise from agonising to invigorating, the mud begins to dry out (a bit) and rumours abound of a strange golden orb spotted in the sky above Q Lake, our Spring/Summer season is getting under way.

Please Note, Whilst we can not wait to welcome back children it is still too cold, so currently we are an adult only venue- once children are welcome back child tickets will be availale to purchase.

If you’re looking for somewhere you can connect with the outdoors, step away from the chaos of everyday life and relax as the weather warms up, you’re in the right place. You might even spot the mysterious golden orb - but we’re not promising anything.

In the warmer months, we become a place for swimmers of all ages to enjoy nature and escape from screen time. Children are welcome in our family lake - Q Lake - whilst the other three lakes remain adult-only. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, head to our Monet Lake, which is our designated tranquil area, where you can swim amongst the beautiful flowering lilies or relax lakeside with a good book. If you’d like to treat yourself to some contrast therapy, the M Lake is where you will find our five wood-fired saunas, which need to be pre-booked for a session of pure indulgence. Or if you’d rather put yourself through your paces with a stunning 300m circuit, head to our Horseshoe Lake, often favoured by swimmers training for events.

Our aim is to provide a bridge between wild swimming in unpredictable waters and the more structured swimming of a lifeguarded venue - so please be aware that although our friendly and knowledgeable staff are first aid trained, none of our lakes are supervised and there are no lifeguards.

A few things to note this Summer:

We are open for day ticket holders from 8am until 8pm. The lakes close at 7:45 pm and customers need to be off site by 8pm.

To help manage numbers and car parking, all tickets must be purchased online before arriving . If there are no tickets available online, we are sold out. Paddle boarding sessions and saunas must also be booked in advance.

HELP US KEEP POOL BRIDGE FARM SAFE AND TRANQUIL:

We want you all to enjoy your visit safely, whilst making the most of our beautiful and relaxing surroundings. To help us achieve this, please be aware of the following:

If you are new to outdoor swimming, please do your own research before visiting us and bring appropriate clothing and equipment. Swimming in water up to 15 degrees is still regarded as ‘cold water swimming’ and needs to be approached with care.

We are a non-lifeguarded venue; whilst we have comprehensive safety measures in place, swimming is at your own risk. Please do your research and make sure you know where the life rings and air horns are located before you swim. Further information, including video tutorials on how to use our safety equipment, can be found here: Health & Safety Information — Pool Bridge Farm

The ‘family’ lake is still very deep and everyone entering must be able to swim. Under 18s MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian and kept under close supervision at all times, even on dry land. Children under 11 and non-swimmers must have an adult in the water with them at arm’s reach. The maximum adult-to-child ratio is 1:3. Life jackets are highly recommended for ALL under 11s as well as less confident swimmers of any age. If a life jacket is required, you need to provide it yourself and it must be worn at all times.

The safety and privacy of our customers is a priority for us. Therefore, we politely request that you do not come for a ‘look around’.

We are a dry site with a zero tolerance approach to alcohol and smoking - please note that the café will not be serving alcohol during the Summer months. Tranquility is also very important to us - please do not play music.

Other than guide dogs and our own family dogs, we do not allow dogs to visit the site.
